Some organizers have hardly adjusted the prices here. At DER Touristik, however, package prices have fallen by 15 percent and at Tui by five percent.

Why are prices falling so sharply in some countries?

The prices that the organizers can offer depend on factors such as demand, kerosene costs, hotel prices and currency effects. The latter is especially true for destinations where the organizers shop in dollars. In addition to the USA, this is, for example, the Caribbean.

Tourism researcher Prof. Torsten Kirstges from the Jade University in Wilhelmshaven explains the effect: "The dollar is of course directly relevant for America tour operators – including South America." But it also affects other travel destinations, for example because the service providers there or kerosene are calculated in dollars or because the development of the dollar also influences the exchange rate of other currencies. This is often the case outside of Europe in particular.

Currency effects often show up in travel prices with a slight delay. Because the big organizers secure part of the necessary foreign currency with forward transactions, as Kirstges explains. "With currency hedging, there is a lead time of five to ten months from the tourist shopping to the travel season."

Will my trip definitely be cheaper?

Price promises from organizers in no way mean that a specific trip is actually cheaper than last season. No traveler books at average prices. It always depends on the date, hotel and room category.

In addition, the organizers calculate the price on a daily basis based on available flight and hotel prices. Here, the travel price changes very dynamically within the season.

Beetroot can be stored in different ways: you can freeze beetroot, store it in the basement or in the refrigerator. Find out here how winter vegetables stay fresh the longest.

Winter vegetables – vitamin bombs in the cold season

Store beetroot fresh

Beetroot must be harvested before the first frost. So that you can enjoy the winter vegetables for as long as possible, you should store the tubers in a cool place – either in the cellar or in the refrigerator. If you want to store beetroot in the cellar, knock out a wooden box with plastic wrap and fill it halfway with damp sand. Then add the beetroot and fill the rest of the box with sand. Stored at temperatures around six degrees Celsius, the beetroot can be kept in the sandpit for up to five months. Tip: The more humid the cellar, the crisper the winter vegetables will be.

You can also store beetroot in the refrigerator. Since the tubers run the risk of drying out, wrap the winter vegetables in paper, such as newspaper, before storing. In this way, undamaged beetroot stays fresh for up to two weeks.

Many people associate Christmas with special aromas and scents. That’s why I chose a mix of stewed vegetables in season. Earthy beetroot slices and carrots, accompanied by roasted onions, mushrooms and small potato halves, in a cloud of aromas of thyme, cinnamon, cardamom, clove and plum jam. Millet with coconut milk and cardamom goes with the oven vegetables.

Secretly, of course, I always hope a little that a dish will become a traditional dish and some will say next year: "Will the great oven vegetables be back this Christmas?" That would be great.

Ingredients for 2 people:

1 beetroot approx. 250 g

4 small waxy potatoes with a smooth skin

250 g of brown mushrooms

250 g carrots

3 medium-sized onions approx. 150 g

3 high tbsp plum jam

2 to 3 thyme stalks

Salt, freshly ground black pepper

For the seasoning oil:

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

ground seeds of 5 green cardamom pods

2 ground cloves

8 tbsp olive oil

For the millet:

120 g millet

50 ml coconut milk

ground seeds of 4 green cardamom pods

Preparation:

1. Preheat the oven to 220 ° C (convection). Halve the potatoes with their peel lengthways, cut the beetroot into approx. 1 cm thick slices, the carrots into approx. 2 cm thick pieces, and the mushrooms and onions into large pieces. Put everything on the bottom of a saucepan. Spread the plum jam on one side of the saucepan and spread a few strips over the beetroot slices. Place the thyme stalks on top.

2. Mix the spices with the oil well and let it steep for 10 minutes. Then spread over the vegetables and brush the beetroot slices with the seasoning oil, add a little salt and pepper to everything.

3. The casserole is now placed on the middle rail (wire shelf) in the oven for approx. 25 to 30 minutes. Use your experience, every stove is different. In between, stir the vegetables with a spoon (but not the beetroot slices!) So that the oil is well distributed. Brush the beetroot slices with the oil from the saucepan.

4. While the vegetables are in the oven, cook the millet according to the instructions on the packet and mix with the coconut milk and the ground cardamom while still warm. To keep the millet warm, leave the lid on the pot.

5. Arrange the vegetables and millet on the plates. Add 2 tablespoons of boiling water to the stock in the saucepan and stir well. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Pour some of this sauce over the millet and serve.

A long beard, strong upper arms and an alert look behind dark sunglasses: Lorenzo McGregor would look good on any ocean-going steamer. But instead of a cruise ship on the world’s oceans, he steers a rubber boat on the Colorado in southeastern Utah. Lorenzo is part of the Wilderness River Adventures team. Every year, the organizer of rafting tours smuggles hundreds of whitewater enthusiasts through the gorges of the Cataract Canyon and the Grand Canyon. This https://topadultreview.com/thai-brides/ time, a four-day rowing boat tour through the Cataract Canyon, which is as popular as feared by rafters because of its dangerous rapids, will take place.

Flow speed at a record level

The next morning, before sunrise, the group sets off from their camp in Moab in the Canyonlands National Park for Potash. There the crew has already moored the inflatable boats on the bank. Provisions and equipment are stowed on board the two inflatable boats and the supply boat, then it starts at a leisurely pace. Because despite the snowmelt, the flow speed of the Colorado is only around 500 cubic meters per second, explains Lorenzo. That is just average. "We are far above the Glen Canyon Dam in an unregulated stretch of river and are therefore dependent on the natural amount of water".

The group glides slowly past Dead Horse Point and Pyramid Butte and winds its way around the goose neck loop. "When we were out here in the spring of 2011, the flow speed was a record 2400 cubic meters per second" remembers Lorenzo. "From 850 it gets really intense."

Not many know the dreaded canyon

Today the Colorado is tame. Lorenzo can take it easy to find an anchorage on the shore to explore the granaries of the Fremont Indians who lived here about 800 to 1000 years ago.
